Leg day soreness is not caused by lactic acid. That is a common myth — lactate actually clears from your muscles within about an hour of finishing training. What causes the soreness you feel 24-48 hours later is delayed onset muscle soreness, or DOMS, which is the result of microscopic damage to muscle fibres during exercise.
The good news is that DOMS responds well to two things: increased blood flow to the damaged area, and reduced inflammation. Compression boots deliver both. The sequential inflation from foot to thigh increases circulation in exactly the muscles you have just trained, accelerating the delivery of oxygen and nutrients to the damaged fibres while clearing the waste products that slow repair.
For gym goers doing heavy squat and lunge programmes, adding 20-30 minutes in the boots after training consistently reduces next-day soreness.
A percussion massager used before training helps warm up the muscles and increase blood flow before you load them. Used after training it breaks up tension in specific spots that the boots cannot reach — hamstrings, glutes and the upper leg.
